Saint Thomas More (STM), the Catholic Chapel and Center at Yale University, seeks a hands-on, detail-oriented Kitchen Operations Supervisor to lead all daily kitchen and food-service operations supporting more than 20 weekly events and our weekly charitable Soup Kitchen (serving 200-300 guests). This role supervises per diem kitchen staff and works closely with STM's Hospitality and Events Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan menus and prepare food for meetings, lectures, Sunday brunches, and special events
- Lead food production, serving, and clean-up; maintain high hospitality standards
- Order and purchase food/supplies; complete vendor pickups as needed
- Oversee weekly Soup Kitchen: menu planning, preparation, volunteer coordination
- Maintain safe, sanitary, organized kitchen and storage areas
- Manage inventory, invoices, budgets, and kitchen documentation
- Work collaboratively with chaplains, students, and staff; support evening/weekend events
Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in culinary operations, kitchen supervision, or catering
- Strong cooking and menu-planning skills
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 50 lbs; comfortable in an active kitchen environment
- Must be 21 and able to work nights/weekends/Sundays
