Pond Cove is a large elementary school with 500+ students in grades K-4 and 90+ staff. We are high-performing with expectations of excellence and rigor in all areas of an educator\'s professional practice. We are seeking three kindergarten teachers that are positive, hard-working, and effective educators with high expectations for themselves and others. One position is permanent and two positions are one year only.

The successful candidate will join a team of five other kindergarten teachers (a total of six). This role includes planning, designing, and delivering engaging and hands-on lessons and implementing assessments to measure student growth and progress across all curriculum areas, including phonics, reading, math, social studies, and science. Teaching third-grade at Pond Cove will require learning or having experience with the Lucy Calkins Units of Study for reading, writing, and phonics, and Everyday Math. We also utilize DreamBox, IXL, and Lexia as supplemental online tools that provide students with additional practice in literacy and math content areas. The positions include covering student recesses and/or lunches and collaborating with a large number of colleagues including school social workers, school counselors, special educators, extended learning coaches, and building principals.

Certification Requirements: Maine Elementary Teaching (020)

    • NWEA and DRA assessments

    • Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions
    • Response to Intervention (RTI)
  • Build a community of learners who respect and care for each other
  • Provide students with engaging, hands-on, and high-interest lessons/learning opportunities
  • Meet student needs, including social-emotional, academic, and behavior
  • Share ownership of students for all aspects of learning and fulfill supervision duties (e.g., recess, lunch, etc.)
  • Be able to pivot quickly when changes happen (e.g., schedule changes, support and attend school assemblies and events, fulfill coverage needs, etc.)
