The Kia Shop Foreman oversees the day-to-day operations of the service department, ensuring high-quality repairs, optimal workflow, and compliance with manufacturer standards. This leadership role acts as a liaison between technicians, service advisors, and management, supporting diagnostic troubleshooting, repair quality assurance, and technician development in accordance with Kia Motor standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise all service technicians, assigning work orders and managing workload distribution.
Assist technicians with complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs--especially those requiring advanced technical knowledge.
Ensure all repairs are completed correctly and efficiently the first time, minimizing comebacks.
Perform final quality checks and test drives as needed to verify repairs.
Monitor shop productivity, technician efficiency, and hours flagged.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment compliant with OSHA and dealership policies.
Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and support for Kia technical certifications.
Coordinate with the Service Manager on staffing needs, scheduling, and parts availability.
Review and verify repair orders for accuracy and completeness before closing.
Maintain strong communication with the parts and service advisor teams to support timely repairs and customer satisfaction.
Stay current with Kia bulletins, recalls, TSBs, and technical updates.
Assist in resolving customer complaints related to service work, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; automotive trade school or ASE certifications preferred.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on automotive technician experience; previous foreman or team lead experience strongly preferred.
Kia certification or experience with Kia/Hyundai vehicles is highly desirable.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Strong diagnostic skills and in-depth knowledge of modern vehicle systems.
Ability to lead a team, provide technical mentorship, and manage workflow under pressure.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Proficient with dealership management systems, CDK software preferred
Working Conditions:
Full-time position; typical hours are Monday through Friday 8-5pm - Occasional Saturdays
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise).
Occasional evening or weekend work as required by service volume or dealership needs.
