Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care for animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to handle various breeds and sizes of dogs. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the animals while ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, bathing, and exercising. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Assist with basic grooming tasks such as brushing and nail trimming. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques during care procedures. Support veterinary staff with animal handling during examinations or treatments. Engage with pet owners, providing excellent customer service and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Assist with training activities as needed, promoting positive behaviors in dogs.

Requirements

Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred (e.g., kennel experience, pet sitting). Knowledge of dog training techniques is a plus. Familiarity with veterinary practices or experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is beneficial. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manage physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and pet owners.
