This is administrative support staff position performing basic receptionist, clerical and legal support work in a Juvenile Office.
Work involves performing general legal secretarial and clerical duties for a Juvenile Office. Work requires the exercise of initiative, independent judgment and discretion in handling delegated details and the performance of various support duties. Instructions are received from a superior on new assignments and policy matters, and advice and assistance are normally available. Work is generally reviewed by a superior upon completion for adherence to established policies, procedures and results obtained.
Characteristic Duties

Drafts correspondence, legal documents, memoranda and motions and other materials from copy or notes.
Screens and refers callers and visitors, answers various inquiries personally and provides information on the Juvenile Office; maintains appointment schedules and electronic calendars.
Identifies critical or important calls and advises appropriate staff.
Enters information into the database system and performs relevant data processing activities.
Processes discovery and associated tasks.
Processes and maintains paper and electronic documents and files or stores as may be appropriate.
Arranges travel and meetings.
Prepares, compiles, and maintains various records on office activities such as personnel, payroll, budget, purchasing, travel expenses, and related activities.
Receives, date stamps, and routes mail; processes registered mail.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of administrative support staff practices and procedures.
Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
Knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws and legal factors pertaining to the court.
Knowledge of organization and court operations, functions and scope of authority of the Juvenile Officer.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and office policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from such records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and demonstrates superior communication and inter-personal skills.
Skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and two years secretarial or general clerical experience.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must pass both criminal and child abuse/neglect background checks.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
