:

29 Pixel Studios is hiring a Junior Web & Layout Designer to support the Army University Press (AUP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS. This is a full-time, on-site position (telework may be possible based on performance). The role focuses on layout design in Adobe InDesign, HTML/CSS web editing, and supporting the digitization of Army magazine articles and other publications with WCAG compliance.

The role requires strong layout skills in InDesign for preparing and adapting publications, as well as a solid working knowledge of HTML and CSS to carry those designs into web-ready formats. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, motivated, and collaborative, with a strong work ethic and the ability to anticipate customer needs.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:



Primary Duties



Take magazines from multiple sources (often in Adobe InDesign) and

convert them into HTML for the web

, ensuring accessibility and WCAG compliance. Recreate and digitize Army publications using Adobe InDesign as the base for web layout. Collaborate with a team to modernize and maintain digital publications.

Secondary Duties



Create basic social media assets. Convert articles into MP3s using text-to-speech software and upload them to the website. Maintain, develop, and publish web content. Monitor, evaluate, and update social media sites.

Required Skills and Experience (must have to be considered):



Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Extreme attention to detail. Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop) and a code editor. Great communication skills. Knowledge and experience using HTML and CSS for web development. Self-directed and motivated to accomplish tasks and meet objectives and committed timelines; ability to consistently deliver on commitments and assume responsibility for results. Must be a US Citizen able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications (ideal candidate will have):



Familiarity with the United States Army (or other Military branch). Bachelor's degree in web development or equivalent. Experience with 508 remediation

Work Environment:



Ability to work at a rapid pace while maintaining a positive attitude.

Work to be performed at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Position estimated start date: IMMEDIATELY after background check complete. Hours of operation: 8 A.M. - 5 P.M., Monday - Friday (there is some flexibility here, most workers are done at 4 P.M. We have 40 hour work weeks, not a minute more! 29 Pixel Studios' owner is not a fan of how our industry treats these types of employees!)

Security Requirements:



Candidates will undergo a background investigation and must have a favorable background result to access the non-classified internet protocol router network.

There will be a 60-day probationary period where the selected candidate will be working as a 1099 contractor. After that, the below benefits go into effect. 10-Days for vacation. (This grows to 15 after 5 years with the company!!) 5-Days sick leave. 11-Federal holidays. Health Insurance - We offer a plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. With an optional Dental Plan as an add-on. 29 Pixel Studios will pay $320 per month toward the premium. Retirement. A SIMPLE-IRA and match up to 3% (max by law for a SIMPLE). Once the probationary period is complete, you are immediately vested with the first paycheck. The selected candidate will be issued a CAC Card which is a 'smart card' you will utilize to gain entry to Fort Leavenworth. This card also gives access to the exceptional gyms on Fort Leavenworth.

Specializing in video (cinematography), photography and graphic design, 29 Pixel Studios currently supports multiple contracts ranging from the City of Leavenworth, United States School District 453, to the United States Army (currently three ongoing). Commercial clients include Merlin Entertainment (Sea Life, LEGO Land, Madame Tussauds), Marlow White, NICE, and many more.
