Job Description


Responsibilities

Junior-Level Systems Engineers support the Government by employing a multi-discipline approach in the analysis of the National systems for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG)/Allied Systems for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG) and Federal Agencies to ensure timely and accurate GEOINT across the NGA/ASG enterprise.

Junior-Level Systems Engineers participate and interact in planning, implementation approaches, testing, and documenting for total systems or subsystems analysis using analysis of requirements and government defined processes and Digital Engineering disciplines.

Junior-Level Systems Engineers provide support to programmatic and technical system development life cycle support to the program including future projections for NSG/ASG enterprise and subsystems. They support the appropriate government processes and documentation including requirements development, analysis of alternatives (AoAs), provide Courses of Action (COAs,) and presentations of subsystems, enterprise architecture views.

Duties include:

  • Participates and performs systems engineering activities across the NSG, ASG and Federal Agencies to ensure timely and accurate GEOINT.
  • Interacts at the systems level perspectives including technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of services, infrastructures and multiple security domains.
  • Assists in developing and making recommendations in preparation of engineering plans and technical design packages.
  • Supports and captures development processes of government guided, user and systems requirements.
  • Assists with Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Assists in the development of engineering artifacts for the future ASG enterprise aligning emerging technologies such as computer derived indications and warning (I&W), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), automated/assisted target recognition (ATR), change detection (CD), modern database designs (MDB).
  • Provides progress and status reports to the government as directed.

Skills and Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in Systems Engineering or in related technical or scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program, or equivalent Junior-Level (4 to 6 years) Systems Engineer work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Junior-level experience system engineering experience in government or industry.
  • Junior-level experience developing program plans and scheduling.
  • Junior-level experience in government system designs integrating complex System of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills both within and external to organization.
Desired:
  • Knowledge of government systems processes.
  • Experience in the field of geospatial intelligence or the intelligence community.
  • Knowledge of the current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, and proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems, geomatics, or related fields.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
