King County Superior Court is accepting applications for two full-time Judicial Technician II positions.



The Judicial Technician II is a critical member of the Court Operations team, performing a variety of different tasks in support of the daily operations of the Court. The primary work assignment will be in the Ex Parte department providing administrative support on operational issues. This position manages the daily calendars and assists Commissioners and court customers. Work assignments may require learning and applying knowledge in several areas of court operations. The incumbents will provide analytical support to address operational issues, maintain databases and perform a wide range of support duties where needed within the department.

Work location:

These positions are located at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent and the King County Courthouse in Seattle, Washington. The incumbents may also be required to work at other Superior Court facilities.



Work schedule and terms:

These full-time positions are hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The incumbents will work 35 hours per week. The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Variations from these hours may occur.

Job Duties

These job duties are representative but may not represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level. This position will primarily support the Court's Ex Parte department but may also support various units within Court Operations.

May provide support and facilitation with various operational units within Court Operations, however, the primary assignment is within the Ex Parte department. Prepare and maintain calendars of court events to determine prioritization of events, efficient use of courtroom space, and time usage of courtroom personnel. Interact with court divisions and the legal community via emails and written notices to coordinate case-related activities and maintain the flow of case processing. Attend court hearings, notate significant actions taken in courtroom, and enter pertinent information into the court's database. Review case files and individual legal documents to ensure completeness for the Guardianship and Probate Review Calendar. Use discretion to draft court orders in guardianship, probate, trust, and minor settlement cases for Ex Parte Commissioners' review. Research, analyze and respond to all inquiries from the public, clients and jurors made in person, by telephone, email, or in writing regarding the court records and processes. Research specialized or technical information, providing general and detailed information to internal and external customers. May provide training on procedural matters and may make formal presentations in support of the Ex Parte and Arbitration section. Notify parties of cases status; explain various legal programs, policies and procedures, and ramifications for non-compliance. Research and interpret policies, procedures, state and local court rules, statutes and other relevant sources to provide program-specific information relating to technical services to customers. Provide virtual and on-site technical assistance to judicial officers conducting remote and/or in-person hearings. Act as virtual hearing "host," direct participants and manage the virtual meeting space for multiple courtrooms simultaneously. Perform administrative duties as assigned. Identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Required Qualifications:



Associate's degree and three (3) years' experience in court procedures and processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient with various computer software applications including Microsoft Office programs. Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities and remain attentive to detail, while meeting multiple deadlines.

Desired Qualifications:



Working knowledge of court systems, including roles and responsibilities of court departments and related agencies, key personnel, and case flow. Knowledge of statutes, Court Rules, court procedures and practices in probate and guardianship proceedings. Advanced knowledge of remote meeting platforms.

: The ability to reliably travel throughout the County is required. Finalists are subject to the Washington State Patrol criminal background check and reference check. Criminal background records are not automatically disqualifying.
