Position Overview:
ACCEL Academy, recognized throughout for its forward-thinking and progressive culture, is seeking an Army JROTC Instructor. The Army JROTC Instructor will implement an educational program for the designated grade level and career technical subject area using the current designated course of study and to serve as an integral part of the school system facilitating instruction and career opportunities for students.
Essential Functions:
Prepares and presents instruction to the cadets enrolled in JROTC.
Enrolls scholars in JROTC.
Conducts the JROTC program in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies as established by the U.S. Army and local district.
Maintains good relations with the school authorities, faculty, and student body.
Advises the SAI on improvements within the unit.
Supervises extra-curricular activities including but not limited to community service events and/or weekend duties.
Prepares weekly training schedules.
Attends Army JROTC summer camp with cadets from his/her school.
Performs any other duties assigned by his/her Supervisor.
Ability to:
Develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of students at the designated grade levels and in the designated content areas and subjects.
Possess effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
Maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
Use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction.
Facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
Have the physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a citizen of the United States of America
Must have retired from the active Army with a rank of Captain through Colonel within the last three (3) years with at least twenty years of honorable service.
Must be certified by the US Army to teach the Army JROTC program.
Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma (Must possess an AA degree within five (5) years of hire date).
Must have a rank of Staff Sergeant First Class, Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, Sergeant Major, or Command Sergeant Major.
Some college background is preferred.
Terms:
Eleven (11) month, 222-day contract with salary as established by the Board in terms of the Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.
