Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Underwriter to join our dynamic financial services team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in risk assessment, financial analysis, and loan processing within a collaborative environment. The Junior Underwriter will support senior underwriters by conducting data collection, risk evaluation, and financial modeling to assist in making informed lending decisions. Ideal candidates will possess strong quantitative skills, a solid understanding of financial concepts, and a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate and efficient underwriting processes.

Duties



Assist in evaluating loan applications by collecting and analyzing relevant financial data, including cash flow statements, credit reports, and other pertinent documentation. Conduct risk analysis through quantitative research and financial modeling to determine the creditworthiness of applicants. Support the underwriting team in assessing borrower risk using various tools and techniques such as equity research, portfolio management insights, and fraud prevention measures. Participate in loan origination processes by reviewing documentation for compliance with internal policies and industry regulations. Prepare detailed financial reports, including risk assessments, forecasting models, and credit analysis summaries for review by senior underwriters. Utilize financial software to perform data analysis, maintain accurate records, and generate reports that support decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as accounting, banking, mortgage servicing, and tax specialists to ensure comprehensive evaluation of loan applications. Engage in continuous learning around financial concepts such as underwriting standards, technical accounting practices, and loan processing procedures to enhance professional development.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; relevant coursework or internships are a plus. Strong understanding of financial analysis techniques including cash flow analysis, risk analysis, and financial modeling. Proficiency with financial software tools and Microsoft Excel for quantitative research and report writing. Excellent mathematical skills with an ability to interpret complex data sets accurately. Knowledge of credit analysis, loan origination processes, and portfolio management principles is preferred. Familiarity with fraud prevention/detection methods and mortgage servicing practices is advantageous. Strong communication skills for effective report writing and collaboration across teams. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial concepts critically with sound judgment in risk assessment scenarios.
