Job Description

The Jr Estimator / Preconstruction supports the estimating team in preparing detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and bid documents for civil construction projects. This role involves close collaboration with senior estimators, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate, competitive bids

Duties

- Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, drawings for earthwork, asphalt, concrete and utility scopes

- Software proficiency - HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, On-screen takeoff, Bluebeam, MS Project and excel

- Verify accuracy of plans and identify potential discrepancies or missing information

- Assist with compiling bid packages, subcontractor quotes and supplier pricing

- Input quantities and pricing into HeavyBid under guidance of Sr. Estimators

- Help assemble bid proposal documents and supporting information for submission

- Track addendums and ensure all updated information is incorporated into estimates

- Send out bid invitations and maintain communication with subcontractors and suppliers

- Compare coverage between subs and note inclusions and exclusions

- Download documents and organize from bid portals

- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and bid reviews

- Manages workload to ensure preconstruction deliverables for projects are understood and met

- At times, some project engineering duties such as submittals, RFI's and project correspondence

Required knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience preferred

- Knowledge of or ability to learn HCSS and On-screen takeoff

- Ability to present estimates to internal team members, as well as owners and owner consultants

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

- Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
