The Mission of Idaho Correctional Industries (ICI) is teaching and strengthening work and life skills to minimum and medium security offenders to prepare them for a successful transition into society. Through successful training we help build lives, save the State of Idaho Tax Dollar Investments, and ultimately benefit society

This exam includes the standards required for the Department\'s compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003.
Idaho Correctional Industries is currently recruiting for a Job Training Associate. ICI is a self-supporting state agency and exists as a resident Training Program. We are seeking a self-starting, highly motivated individual. The successful applicant must be willing to learn to train residents, while learning the hands-on aspect of the craft. Applicants will be training in a minimum and medium custody environment, while maintain manufacturing production schedules. ICI subscribes to professional ethics and supports all other agencies to foster the integrity of the criminal justice system.

If you have previously applied for the position of Training Associate you must reapply under this announcement. Previous scores will not be used. Hiring lists may be created from promotional applicants. The applications may also be used for future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months.

Example of Duties
  • Learn how to properly motivate resident trainees.
  • Learn how to monitor and evaluate the performance of resident trainees.
  • Learn how to train team members to ensure their ability to safely operate equipment
  • Learn how to counsel, record, and discipline as necessary according to ICI and IDOC policy.
  • Learn how to manage the Supply Chain, including movement, safety, ordering, and Global Shop procedures.
  • Learn tool control procedures and the implications of clearly defined tool accountability.
  • Learn to maintaining situational awareness while maintaining unconditional positive regard for team members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Some knowledge of the designated specialty area: production
  • Experience as a supervisor or lead worker training and providing direction and feedback to others in a work environment
  • Good knowledge computer software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience using a variety of tools and equipment specific to the assigned shop
  • Willingness to work in a correctional facility
  • Valid Driver\'s License
Supplemental Information

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Willingness to work different shifts and weekends when needed
  • Some knowledge of the designated specialty area;
  • Experience with GlobalShop EPR, and/or MRP systems
HIRING INFORMATION:
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
  • Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
  • Having a history of law-abiding behavior
  • Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI\'s, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:
  • Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
  • Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
  • Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
  • Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
  • Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
