About BCCC: The Brownsville Community Culinary Center (BCCC) is a community-based training and social enterprise dedicated to providing culinary arts education, workforce development, and healthy food access in Brownsville and surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods. BCCC equips participants with the skills, confidence, and connections to build sustainable careers in the culinary and hospitality industries while advancing food justice and community empowerment.

Position Summary:



The Job Developer plays a key role in connecting BCCC participants and graduates with meaningful employment opportunities in the culinary, hospitality, and related industries. This position is responsible for cultivating strong relationships with employers, identifying job opportunities, and supporting participants throughout the job placement and retention process.

The Job Developer ensures that BCCC graduates successfully transition from training to employment and long-term career growth.

Employer Engagement & Job Development



Develop and maintain partnerships with employers in the culinary, hospitality, and food service sectors, as well as other industries aligned with BCCC training programs. Conduct employer outreach through site visits, networking events, job fairs, and direct communication. Secure job placements, internships, and on-the-job training opportunities for BCCC participants and graduates. Promote the skills, professionalism, and readiness of BCCC graduates to potential employers. Maintain a database of employer contacts, job openings, and partnership activity. Participant Support & Job Placement Collaborate with BCCC instructors, case managers, and staff to understand participant skills, goals, and employment readiness. Match participants to suitable employment opportunities and assist with resume development, interview preparation, and job applications. Provide coaching and follow-up support to ensure successful job placement and retention. Act as a liaison between employers and participants to address challenges and promote job satisfaction.

Program Administration & Reporting



Track and report on job placements, employer engagement activities, and participant outcomes. Maintain detailed records in compliance with BCCC and funder requirements. Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and community engagement events.

Qualifications:



Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development, Human Services, Business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). Minimum of 2 years of experience in job development, employment services, workforce training, or related field. Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of workforce trends, particularly in the culinary and hospitality sectors. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment, including justice-involved individuals, youth, and adults from underserved communities. Background in the culinary, hospitality, or food service industries. Familiarity with Brooklyn-based employers and workforce development networks. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:



Pay Rate: $25 - $30 per hour (commensurate with experience) Schedule: 25 hours per week Paid time off and professional development opportunities Supportive, mission-driven work environment
Work Environment: Based at the Brownsville Community Culinary Center in Brooklyn, NY. Regular travel within the community for employer engagement and events. Occasional evenings or weekends for job fairs and community programming.

Duties



Develop and implement tailored employment plans for clients based on their skills, interests, and needs. Build relationships with local employers to identify job opportunities and facilitate placements. Conduct interviews and assessments to evaluate clients' abilities and employment readiness. Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and support to clients throughout their job search and employment tenure. Assist clients with resume writing, interview preparation, and job application processes. Educate employers about employment & labor law, accommodations, and benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities or challenges. Coordinate training sessions and workshops on workforce development, social skills, and workplace expectations. Monitor client progress post-placement to ensure successful integration into the workplace. Maintain detailed records of client interactions, progress reports, and employment outcomes. Stay informed about best practices in addiction counseling, teaching strategies, and employment law to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications



Proven experience or strong interest in workforce development, social work, or related fields such as teaching or counseling. Knowledge of employment & labor law relevant to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable. Skills in interviewing, mentoring, recruiting, training & development are essential. Ability to build rapport with diverse populations including those facing addiction challenges. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients and employers. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple cases and maintaining accurate documentation. Compassionate attitude with a commitment to empowering individuals toward independence through employment opportunities.
