Duties Summary

The
Janitor II
assigned to this position, performs custodial duties within the buildings, specified offices, and adjacent outside areas including sweeping and scrubbing of floors, dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork, replenishing supplies, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows and walls, moving and arranging furniture for special events, turning off lights and locking windows and doors, making minor building repairs not requiring a trade skill; operate heavy duty industrial cleaning equipment; participate in the maintenance of adjacent grounds; operate an automobile or truck in carrying out work assignments; keep records of work activities.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
A. Knowledge.
Common practices, tools, and equipment used in janitorial work, building hardware, fixtures, and equipment.
B. Skills/Abilities.
Operate tools and equipment used in janitorial work, including heavy industrial-type cleaning equipment; use basic equipment in groundskeeping; perform minor building repair and maintenance tasks; lift and carry heavy furniture and equipment; follow and give oral and written instructions; instruct and supervise employees.
C. Education.
High School graduate preferred.
D. Experience.
Previous experience in common household cleaning methods.

The examination for this recruitment will be conducted on an unassembled basis where the examination score is based on an evaluation and rating of your education and experience.
