```Job Overview:```

We are seeking dedicated and highly motivated individuals to join our team as a civilian employee - Jail Support Services. As a Jail Support Services employee, you will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order within our community. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations. This position is intended as a transitional position for those that want to become a sworn law enforcement officer upon meeting minimum criteria.

```Duties:```

Assists the supervisor in securing and compiling data used in the submission of budget requests, status reports, accomplishment summaries, and related documents. Acts as receptionist for the Detention Facility, answering phones and directing callers to the appropriate office or individual; receives and initiates communication and sharing information with the Courts, District Attorney's Office, law enforcement personnel, and others. This includes verbal, written, email, and faxed based communication. Computer-based logging of all Detention Facility activity to include deputies and detainees. Complete accurate and detailed reports of events and incidents that occur. Receives incoming mail; sorts, inspects and routes mail to the appropriate individual. Creates and maintains a variety of files and records both paper and electronic. Monitors inmates and jail activity through direct and indirect methods. Verbally communicate with detainees through an intercom system. and to a limited extent, in person to address issues, questions, or problems. Verbally solicit required and necessary information from arrestees during the intake or booking process, and as required during the detainee's incarceration. Receives monies and records money transactions. Provides support to Courts, District Attorney's Office, law enforcement personnel, members of the general public, and other staff of the organization in person and/or by phone by answering inquiries related to the Detention Facility's operations, services, programs, and records; possesses familiarity with and explains to the public, detainees, and other, the Detention Facility's rules, policies, and procedures and explains the appropriate use and completion of forms and documents. Establishes, maintains, and revises filing and archiving systems; purges files as necessary; instructs others in establishing related files. Searches files and records for information needed by other staff; sorts, categorizes, and files documents and records. Makes copies of documents and reports; sends and delivers faxes; compiles figures for reports, budget submissions, and revenue/expense projections. Maintains document storage databases using imaging software applications and equipment. Scans current and archived documents; performs image manipulation as required by the limits of the imaging system. Processes, maintains, and provides for evidence and detainee property inventory, tracking, and accountability. Conducts organizational and classification studies and audits and prepares reports, recommendations, and class descriptions. Performs other duties as required by the Sheriff.
```Experience:```

Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; and office experience which frequently entailed the use of a computer to prepare complex narrative and/or statistical or financial documents. Experience which demonstrated the ability to interact positively with the public and/or internal or external customers.
