-This position serves as a mission focused Data Base Administrator and Developer (DBA) for the Lower Colorado Basin Region.

-Plans and carries out difficult and complex assignments in a variety of systems administration areas. Serves as technical database expert for providing advice for a variety of complex IT topics and tasks.

-Assignments include interpreting IT policies, standards, and requirements and modifying and adapting existing methods and approaches, implementing business practices.

-Evaluating and recommending new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services and analyzing and recommending resolution of complex issues associated with the configuration of IT systems also known as systems administration. You will document database schemas, database processes, and configuration data.

-You will design, develop, maintain, backup, recover, rebuild, and administer databases and data management systems to meet current and future customer requirements. Consults with customers to identify priorities and best approaches for integrating systems administration requirements into daily operations.

-Analyzes and provides cost-benefit analyses to decision-makers for recommended changes. You will monitor and identify current and future data capacity requirements and develop hardware and software requirements plan, along with cost feasibility studies to support budgeting requirements.

-Ensures guidance and work products comply with DOI and the organization\'s IT security requirements. You will ensure compliance with data management standards and perform a wide range of database administrative functions to comply with all Information Security (IS) and Information Awareness (IA) guidelines and requirements.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

GS-12: To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of (full-time work) specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service (gained through public or private experience) having demonstrated experience.
GS-12 Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is defined as experience: (1) Developing large scale, complex, enterprise-wide applications systems; (2) applying, database principles, concepts, methods, standards, data management, data acquisition, systems analysis, and managing large continuous datasets; and (3) programming in various technologies, such as SQL, Python, JavaScript, or other languages/techniques to query databases and conduct data mining.

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, for all IT positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
