Overview

BlueHalo is looking for the right candidate to join our team and provide early-mid career level system administration support to two of our customers at KAFB. Both customers and their programs support the research and development to cutting edge solutions in direct support of space capabilities. This is an onsite, customer facing position in Albuquerque New Mexico. With support of senior IT staff, this position provides daily support and maintenance of Windows/Linux servers, workstations, networking equipment and VMWare VSphere. A typical day can include addressing user issues, account management, system upgrades/patching and providing guidance related to future enhancements to the systems. It is expected that this person will eventually assume a senior system administration role for the environments and server as the primary point of contact for all technical matters. The user population of these systems includes researchers, scientists, and general users.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone with a strong background in customer-facing technical support who is looking to expand their skillset and make the jump to the level of their career. This person will be comfortable addressing time sensitive issues for which they may not have an immediate answer but now how to research and respond with a solution.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the team, with limited supervision, you will be responsible for providing technical and system administration support to two closed-enclaves and all their infrastructure, users and services
  • Monitor infrastructure and systems to proactively alert of pending issues before service interruption
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in-person with end users
  • Implement best practices, tailored to comply with the systems\xe2\x80\x99 network and security posture
  • Execute and maintain configuration management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for systems, user guidance, policy, and practices
  • Assume primary ownership of technical support of enclaves within six months
  • Availability to provide onsite coverage Monday through Friday during normal working hours
  • Experienced with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of virtualization (VSphere), creation, migration, and backup of virtual machines
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and network equipment
  • Ability to automate system administration tasks with scripts (Bash, Python)
You\'re required to have this
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance or higher
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with network administration, Windows, MacOS, or Linux administration and scripting ability to automate tasks
  • Proven ability to design solutions with proactive monitoring/alerting for potential issues before they disrupt service to users
  • Has a Security+ certificate
  • Experience working in and managing a hybrid Linux/Windows environment which is primarily Linux and disconnected from the internet (isolated network)
  • Experience with containerization/virtualization/automation tools such as Kubernetes and Docker/BuildKit
  • Experience with different networking protocols and orchestrating systems/networks in an offline environment
  • Experience managing several servers at once and orchestrating the communication protocols for all of them
  • Experience as a System Administrator
  • Experience \xe2\x80\x9cupdating\xe2\x80\x9d/changing/installing new hardware into established systems
Preferred/desired experience
  • Has or is able to get a security training certificate above Security+ (for example, MCSC)
  • Experience managing offline Linux software repositories/mirrors
  • Experience managing an offline PyPi mirror
  • Experience managing a local GitLab server
  • Experience with Bash and Powershell scripting
  • Experience orchestrating distributed systems using a microservice architecture
  • Experience using Git/GitLab
