The IT Consultant role requires excellent analytical problem-solving, communication, and customer relationship management skills. The IT Consultant works directly with clients and management to design, troubleshoot, and maintain technology solutions for Concentric clients in a fast-paced, growing environment. This role has a strong emphasis on network consulting. Position Duties:

  • Work with other Concentric staff to successfully implement municipal technology applications (SCADA, AMR, GIS, etc.) as well as standard business software.
  • Providing technical support, troubleshooting problems, identifying causes of system failure, and recommending solutions
  • Recommending changes to existing technology infrastructure to improve efficiency or solve problems.
  • Establishing security policies and procedures to protect computer networks from intruders.
  • Planning, installing, configuring, or supporting networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and extranets.
  • Execute on project scope items within required timelines.
  • Maintain industry awareness and an ongoing high level of IT expertise.
  • Assist Sales teams for properly scoping/estimating work for proposals.
  • Ability to travel locally as required.
  • Participate in \xe2\x80\x9con-call\xe2\x80\x9d rotation to troubleshoot network/server outages.
Skills/Experience:
  • 6+ years of networking experience.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks including but not limited to network security, VPN, firewalls, cellular routers, and VLANS. Internet-related communications: DNS, DHCP, and firewall understanding is expected.
  • Networking Certifications (CCNA, Network+, NSE, CISSP) or related certification(s) preferred, but not necessary.
  • Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Aruba experience preferred.
  • Windows-based operating systems familiarity required. Troubleshooting of Windows server and client environments is expected as part of the role.
  • Experience with the Active Directory, Group Policy, and server virtualization (Microsoft and/or VMware).
  • Microsoft Azure Services and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) skills. Designing, building, and maintaining cloud architecture a plus.
  • Experience writing clear, concise technical documentation including network diagrams and communicating non-technically.
  • Municipal-specific expertise is preferred, but not required.
  • Full-cycle project-focused IT experience is expected.
