This position will report to the IT Manager of RF Communication Services and provide the following roles and responsibilities.

IT Communication Technician II:

Designs, plans, constructs, and configures portions of the Information Technology communications infrastructure design and coordinates with the vendor for installation.

Provides technical guidance for customer inquiries and Service Desk escalations on complex issues regarding communication infrastructure, diagnoses and troubleshoots complex problems, and resolves or refers to the appropriate Information Technology resource.

Designs, maintains, and modifies electronic and communication systems associated with the delivery of voice, data and video over a system infrastructure.

P-25 Standard 800MHz Trunked radio system

Land mobile radio, cellular radio, point-to-point microwave, and unlicensed band radios

VHF Air-to-Ground Radio System(s)

Assists with the design and implementation of infrastructure and server administration such as establishing user and voicemail accounts, setting passwords, backups and assigning access levels. Provides technical guidance to engineering teams for implementation standards.

Confers with user agencies to determine and document future communications requirements.

Provides design information and project plans based on organizational standards through use of a site survey. Produces potential costs associated with jobs in the form of an estimate when requested.

Functions as team lead over projects.

Oversees and provides instruction regarding Information Technology communications issues to lower-level staff.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Project Management:

  • Participate as a sole contributor, member, or team lead for RF Communication Services projects.
Vendor liaison and contract management.

Acts as escalation point to handle team and customer issues/concerns.

Coach, mentor, and training to junior staff and RF Communication Services customers.

About You

We are looking for candidates with some or all the following skills and experience:
  • Preferred FCC General Radio Telephone Operator\xe2\x80\x99s permit by the end of the probationary period.
  • Requires driving. Requires a valid Driver\'s License at the time of application.
Formal education or training in RF fundamentals

Experience with RF test equipment

Experienced with P25 radio networks, preferably manufactured by L3Harris

Experience with Distributed Antenna Systems

Experience with VHF radio systems

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate Experience: Two (2) years of full performance experience performing Information Technology communications maintenance, repair and installation.
  • Education & Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Licensure & Certification: telecommunications certifications.
FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.

Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
