Irrigation Technician

The Golf Course at Sand Hollow Resort is a premier destination to Escape. Play. Discover. Relax. The resort encompasses over 180 units ranging from one (1) to six (6) bedrooms for guests to relax in during their stay. The

Irrigation Technician

is a vital part of the team at The Golf Course at Sand Hollow Resort. They are responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of the complex irrigation systems needed to keep the course healthy and playable throughout the season.?

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair all irrigation components (sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, controllers, pipes, and underground wiring) across greens, tees, fairways, and landscape areas.? Conduct regular system checks, adjust sprinkler schedules, and optimize coverage based on weather, course conditions, and turf needs.? Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform preventive maintenance on all system components, including central controllers and pumps.? Install new irrigation lines or update existing ones during course renovations or repairs and support course projects as needed.? Maintain daily and monthly logs of repairs, water usage, and maintenance activities for regulatory compliance and club management.? Operate irrigation-related heavy equipment safely and efficiently.? Work closely with golf course superintendents and grounds crews, communicating clearly about repairs, adjustments, and water conservation needs.?

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience with golf course irrigation systems and their components (Toro, Rain Bird, Hunter, or similar central controls).? Ability to read blueprints, perform basic plumbing and electrical troubleshooting, and use relevant diagnostic tools.? Knowledge of turf management, agronomics, and basic soil science as they affect irrigation practices on golf courses.? Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.? Strong organizational and documentation skills, plus the ability to work well in a team environment.? Certifications such as Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) or Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor (CGIA) are beneficial.?

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed outdoors across all course areas. Must be prepared for variable weather and emergency responses, often during early mornings or after-hours.?

This position is central to the playability and appearance of the golf course, requiring technical expertise, strong communication, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.?

Pay:

$18-$20/hr - with possibility of pay increases once proven competence in the position.
