In Office Dispensing Technician (IOD TECH)

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:



1. Ability to work independently following established guidelines or directions.

2. Prior experience as a Pharmacy Tech

4. Good communication skills including good telephone etiquette

5. Ability to use Personal Computer

6. Work cooperatively with multiple departments and Providers

7. Experience working in a medical clinic setting.

GENERAL SUMMARY:



This position requires the individual to assist the physician with preparing pharmacy prescriptions and DME for patients in our In-Office Dispensary. The position requires daily management of incoming prescriptions and refills from UroHealth Partners (UHP) Physicians as well as preparation of prescriptions to be dispensed to UHP patients per the UHP IOD Policy and Procedure Manual. It is imperative that the IOD Pharmacy Assistant be good at paying attention to detail and well organized all while ensuring the regulatory compliance steps of the IOD are completed and submitted in a timely manner. This position may also be asked to occasionally assist with Medical Assistant/Tech duties depending on licensure status as assigned by the IOD Coordinator or Chief Operating Officer (COO).

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:



Maintain knowledge and comply with State and Payer specific regulations and requirements in the IOD per UHP IOD Policy and Procedures Maintain patient confidentiality with prescription handling and processing Notify The IOD Coordinator when occurrences or errors occur in a timely manner Process prescriptions in a timely manner per policy Maintain pharmacy inventory appropriately and timely Ensure documentation of prescription information is recorded with each prescription, prescriptions when necessary are voided appropriately, and records are well maintained Utilize resources to troubleshoot prescription processing when needed to ensure prescriptions are run through the electronic record system appropriately Communicate cost and availability of prescriptions routinely to patients as needed Update Electronic Prescription Record System with price tables once a quarter and ensure prescriptions are processing appropriately and if not, immediately notify the COO. Maintain regulatory logs as required by the State of Nebraska and Payers to ensure the UHP IOD is following regulatory requirements Assist the IOD Coordinator with preparing reports from the Pharmacy system as directed Assist IOD Coordinator with communicating with Physicians and IOD Billing on Prescription status and patient requests for consultations. Ensure IOD is well maintained and clean per State of Nebraska requirements Complete all annual regulatory training in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned by IOD Coordinator and COO.

REQUIREMENTS:



1. Certified Medical Aide License

2. Active CNA certificate

3. One-year medical office

4. Pharmacy experience

5. Active BLS Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



Prolonged periods of bending, standing, and walking with occasional periods of balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and stooping. Ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
