The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels. They must report shortages, overages and all inventory levels monthly for replenishment. This process ensures continued operations and avoids product or inventory shortages. The inventory control professional is responsible for classifying, labeling and warehousing all inventory for future use. They must keep accurate records of inventory levels and location for easy retrieval. This is critical in keeping the department organized and efficient. The inventory control person is responsible for communicating with all department managers and purchasing on inventory levels and locations. They must maintain a record of all transfers and disposal. The inventory professional must implement and follow a control system to reduce damage, breakage and inventory obsolescence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for assisting in the receiving and shipping department in logging all incoming inventory
Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
Issues written and oral instructions.
Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
KEY SUCCESS INDICATORS:
Must be detail oriented and highly skilled in dealing with numeric data and inventory counts
Must be skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to read and understand technical order forms
OTHER DUTIES:
Must comply with company policies and operating procedure manual
Maintain knowledge and utilize computer software programs applicable to the department, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other company policies, procedure and rules as presented by Interblock
Perform other job duties as assigned and participate in special projects at management's request
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree or equivalent knowledge
Minimum 3 years' experience in warehouse process, i.e. receiving, put-away, picking, staging, shipping, packaging and cycle counting
Working knowledge of materials and products handled in our warehouse facilities
Must be able to physically lift 25 pounds
Must demonstrate the ability to work well with others to promote a team environment
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision

Constantly operates a computer and other office machines, such as a telephone, copy machine, and office printer.

Frequently communicates with co-workers and clients in person and over the telephone to answer questions and provide assistance.
Must be able to identify and assess information on computer screens and written reports and documentation and record accurate written and electronic messages and reports.
May require bending and reaching in areas from floor level to six feet high.
Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols and eye/hand coordination.
Majority of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There is a need to frequently position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
Continuously requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
Usually in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
