JOB SUMMARY: To reinforce and introduce therapeutic intervention strategies to students placed within the Intervention Room. To assist Program Social Workers in the provision of services to students, families, and staff personnel.
REPORTS TO: Principal(s), REACH Program Director, Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Special Services, and other administrative personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, benefits and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
SALARY: $129 Per Day

JOB DESCRIPTION
+ To reinforce and introduce therapeutic intervention strategies as a necessary component to students' time spent in the Intervention Room.
+ Reinforce intervention strategies already introduced by the Program Social Workers.
+ Introduce new techniques and intervention strategies as they relate to behavior modification, anger management, conflict resolution, problem solving, coping skills, and cognitive processing.
+ Reinforce skills on a social and emotional level that are essential to students becoming successful academically and which fit in with their IEP goals.
+ In conjunction with the Program Social Workers, assist in providing direct support to students as a secondary function to intervention.
+ Observe students in school settings as appropriate.
+ Attend IEP staffings for students, as needed.
+ Assist in identification of needs, recommendations and implementation of intervention for students.
+ Provide individual, group, or facilitative interventions for students.
+ Serve as ongoing students liaison between home, school, and community agencies.
+ Under the guidance and supervision of the Program Social Workers and Program Administrator, assist in providing consultation services.
+ Serve as a resource person to teachers, principals, and support staff on behalf of students.
+ Collaborate with the team to identify gaps in existing services and assist in developing the new services which may be needed.
Role of Behavior Management Interventionist
+ To promote the development of social and emotional skills in the Intervention Room and the school environment that can facilitate the success of students in the academic arena.
+ To implement and facilitate social skills training with students who are in the intervention room for day or whole day in-school suspension.
+ Work in concert with the teachers of the self-contained K-8 classes regarding:
+ Student management techniques
+ Development of home-school management programs
Other
1. Demonstrate self directed professional study via participation in workshops, in-services, and available course work.
2. Performs additional duties, as assigned by the REACH Program Director.
