Salary Range




$92,000.00 - $146,750.00

Overview



The International Tax Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Tax Director. The International Tax Coordinator is responsible primarily for tax analysis and compliance, including Federal and state tax reporting and withholding of income taxes, with respect to international faculty, students, visiting scholars and non-U.S. entities and for providing outreach and training the University community. The International Tax Coordinator will assist in other areas of tax compliance and research, as directed (e.g., state sales tax and federal and state tax returns).

Principal Responsibilities




1. Reviews and/or prepares U.S., state and international tax filings (which in some cases are public documents). Calculates and analyzes taxable income and estimated tax payments for the University and related organizations. 2. Leads preparation and review of certain tax reconciliations, analysis and interpretation of tax returns, financial statements and related disclosures pertaining to the University's investments, compilation and analysis of departmental information. Tracks, analyzes and interprets information received from investment managers (e.g., partnership Schedules K-1 and state equivalents, audited financial statements, international disclosures, etc.). 3. Researches, analyzes and interprets existing and proposed tax laws to determine their applicability to the University's complex investment structure and diverse array of activities. Assists Tax Managers in the development and implementation of the appropriate actions including formulating policies and procedures and/or communicating the results of the research and assisting in drafting recommendations to the appropriate senior University personnel. 4. Updates and reviews University policies and procedures with respect to federal and state payroll, income and not for profit tax issues as a result of changes in federal and/or state tax law. 5. Participates in strategic planning. 6. Performs necessary research, follows up and responds to University community (e.g., faculty, business managers, senior administrators and central departments such as Payroll and A/P). 7. Directs and supervises tax accountant responsible for assisting with tax compliance and other tax projects, as assigned. 8. Updates and manages the tax compliance calendar and communicates due dates to the Tax Managers and Senior Director Tax and International Compliance. 9. Works closely with external Big 4 accounting tax professionals in coordinating outsourcing engagements for complex filings that require a significant degree of in-house expertise in the federal, state and international tax arenas. 10. Acts as a representative of the University in federal and state tax audits and provides technical support including conducting research, preparing responses to the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities and formulating University positions. 11. Identifies areas of potential tax exposure/noncompliance and proactively recommends and implements enhanced controls/procedures. 12. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance and six years of progressive tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of tax research and tax preparation software.
