Internal Auditor I

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Administrative Services Division is seeking an Internal Auditor I for the Internal Audit Unit.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire for continual learning with proven ability to apply considerable and essential interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to maintain cooperative and professional work relationships with internal and external partners; possess strong mathematical aptitude and technology/computer skills to research and analyze data; and have proficient technical skills in Microsoft Office applications. Advanced Excel skills are preferred. Knowledge of the State and Federal Single Audit Acts are a plus.

The selected candidate will conduct or participate in statewide reviews of accounting procedures, documentation, transactions to insure system uniformity and effectiveness in meeting established standards; prepare for examinations by reviewing prior audit reports, financial statements, budgets, or other available data; may participate in meetings with operating personnel to discuss audit procedures, answer questions, or obtain necessary information and records; perform audits in accordance with audit programs in a professional manner; examine various financial records, including revenue, expenditure, payroll, and grant accounting; examine and reconcile accounting records with supporting data, such as vouchers, invoices, and cash receipts; determine compliance of various financial documents with applicable regulations; examine accounting methods and procedures to ensure compliance with accepted accounting laws, and regulations, and state and federal requirements; review and discuss audit findings with officials of the unit under examination; prepare audit reports explaining results and making recommendations; assist in the evaluation of measures taken in response to audit findings; may participate in hearings or conferences; performs related duties as required.

Salary Range: $76,225 - $103,780/year \xe2\x80\x93 plus State of Connecticut benefits.

New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of and ability to apply professional accounting and auditing principles and practices; knowledge of and ability to apply relevant statutes and regulations; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to analyze financial records, documents, and reports.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

General Experience: Five (5) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial examinations.

Substitutions Allowed:
1) College training in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor\'s degree.
2) A Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Accounting or certification as a Public Accountant or Internal Auditor may be substituted for one (1) additional year of General Experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must have a valid motor vehicle operator\'s license and a motor vehicle available for daily business use.
