VELCO's Advancing Grid Intelligence through Learning Experiences (AGILE) Program is a summer internship opportunity for undergraduate and graduate college students. Based on principles of agile project management, AGILE Interns will make meaningful and tangible contributions to VELCO's strategic projects to protect reliability and affordability of the transmission system.

We're seeking a motivated

Intern-

Operational Technology Engineering

who is eager to learn how OT systems connect the physical and digital worlds to enhance performance, safety, and reliability.


The OT Engineering Intern will work with engineers and technologists to support system design, implementation, and maintenance of industrial control and monitoring systems. You'll gain hands-on experience in areas such as control system integration, network security, SCADA systems, and data communications within an operational environment.


Examples include:


Assist in maintaining and upgrading operational technology systems, including SCADA, PLC, and HMI platforms Support OT network configuration, monitoring, and cybersecurity initiatives Help develop system documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures Participate in troubleshooting and resolving OT-related technical issues Conduct research on emerging technologies and contribute to innovation or improvement projects Collaborate with IT, engineering, and field operations teams on cross-functional projects

Who you are

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field


Knowledge/Skills


Interest in control systems, industrial networking, and cybersecurity Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills Familiarity with one or more of the following: PLC programming, SCADA systems, industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC), or network fundamentals Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Compensation Range:

$14.50 - $17.50 - $21.50/hour
This compensation range represents the minimum, midpoint and maximum pay for this position. Individual offers will be based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, education, skills, competencies, and experience. Please note that most offers for new employees fall under the midpoint of the range, allowing room for continued salary growth. Base pay is just one component of our total compensation package, which may also include comprehensive benefits, generous paid time off and incentive compensation (bonus) potential.
