As an Intake Administrative Assistant, you'll be on an interdisciplinary team that delivers life-changing care to patients across Suffolk County.

Your Impact:




Serve as the primary customer service contact within Intake. Assists the Clinical Referral Specialist and the Manager in ensuring effective communication between Intake staff and referring physicians, acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, patients, families, Agency staff, Liaisons, and other referral sources. Utilizes and promotes excellent customer service skills when working with internal and external customer service sources.

You Will:




Provides the primary referral and inquiry customer service presence for the Agency's services.



Manages all incoming calls to Intake



Initiates referral documentation of a pre-determined set of data elements in the EMR from all referral sources and assigns to the appropriate next person in the referral management process.



Ensures that consistent and timely initial communication regarding referrals occurs within Intake and with all Agency offices or service lines.



Verifies physician license and PECOS status on every referral.



Accurately records data and enters insurance/authorization information per EMR requirements.



Demonstrates knowledge of and consistent application at all times of patient rights to confidentiality.



Applies effective, respectful, and positive verbal and written communication methods in the daily work setting to promote a collaborative work environment.

What You Bring:




High School diploma or equivalent required.



Minimum two years office experience, preferably in a home care environment.



Strength in medical terminology.



Computer/data entry skills.

Excellent organizational/communication skills




Able to handle multiple tasks.



Ability to professionally handle confidential information, comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain workflow systems required.
