The Insurance Technician is responsible for employee and retiree insurance services. The Insurance Technician is responsible for enrolling and terminating employees in the district's group health and life insurance plans.The Insurance Technician processes group life insurance claims.
Reports To:
Director of Benefits and Leaves
Scope of Responsibility:
Processes enrollments and terminations for all employer-paid and group policy insurance
Assists with the successful execution of Open Enrollment and Annual Enrollment and all tasks associated with the enrollment
Meets with new hires during onboarding to provide information about the district's group health and life insurance plans.
Meets with retirees to inform them of how their insurance will be impacted upon retirement.
Assists with resolving problems for all employees and retirees who are enrolled in insurance programs.
Coordinates the dissemination of information and updates from insurance providers.
Completes documents required for changes in insurance plans and notifies all insured employees of insurance changes.
Ensures consistency and completion of insurance documentation, making copies of all documents and distributing them to the appropriate departments.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date files on all insured employees, including those who are active, retired, on sabbatical, or on an approved leave.
Processes all life insurance claims for employees or retirees with state and group life insurance.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Benefits and Leaves, or the Executive Director of Employee Services and/or Chief Human Resources Officer.

Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required. Must possess mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas.
