ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Presents the subject matter to the students and provides instruction within the guidelines of the course syllabus.
Instructs content material using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning.
Meets all assigned classes and makes alternative arrangements for the class when absence is unavoidable.
Plans and provides learning experiences at a level that is both challenging and will allow for student success.
Maintains an updated course description form for each class, and improves, updates, and revises courses periodically to keep them current.
Uses available equipment and materials to develop appropriate and effective teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
Maintains attendance records and submits completed rosters to the Continuing Education Center.
Provides quality customer service and works collaboratively with students, staff, public, potential students, and the College community.
Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships. Fosters positive student and community relations.
Demonstrates a professional and helpful attitude toward students.
Submits completed liability and evaluation forms as applicable.
Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
Works professionally with Continuing Education staff to aid in the educational process.
Follows policies and guidelines established in the Continuing Education Instructor Handbook.
Reports to the Director of Continuing Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma/equivalent, AND
Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter, AND
Teaching competency
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Competency in the use of computer and presentation software
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to effectively teach content material in using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning
Competency in the use of computer and presentation software and proficient computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office programs
Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community
Demonstrated skill in creating and managing a work climate of collaboration, collegiality and team work
Ability to provide quality service and create a welcoming and supportive environment
Ability to work with students, colleagues, and supervisor in a collaborative and professional manner
Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community
Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships with staff, students, and public
Ability to follow and issue directions
Skill, dedication, and aptitude for working with student
Demonstrated communication, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills

Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
Ability to perform a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
