Instructional Paraeducator - IDLA

Reports To:

Building Principal(s)/ Assistant Principal(s) / Designated Administrator(s)

Supervises:

Students as assigned by building administration

FLSA Status:

This is a 7-hour-per-day position following a ten-month work schedule. The role does not include a benefits package, it offers one sick day per month and four personal days annually. Compensation is based on the classified salary schedule.

Job Summary:




The Instructional Paraeducator will collaborate with the College and Career Adviser to support students in exploring post-secondary education and career training opportunities. This position provides essential guidance and resources to students, parents, staff, and administrators regarding credit recovery, Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA) and college, career, and educational services.

Qualifications:



Required:



Associate's degree, OR Two years of study at an accredited institution (minimum 32 semester credits), OR Para-Educator State Test Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



Knowledge of:



Basic educational procedures, classroom management, and curriculum support Use of instructional and office equipment, including job-related software

Ability to:



Follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to district policies Assist in interpreting classroom materials and lessons for student understanding Support instruction, tutoring, curriculum implementation, and event planning Manage and prepare educational materials, maintain records, and complete reports Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with students, staff, and community Establish positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff Handle multiple tasks efficiently, including prioritizing, time management, and responding to interruptions Work occasional nights, weekends, and selected summer days Process and track student attendance, GPAs, and records, as needed Participate in parent activities and planning events

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




Responsibilities may vary by assignment and include, but are not limited to:

Support students in completing credit recovery courses and track their progress toward graduation Educate students and families on post-secondary pathways, college admissions, and scholarships Guide students in self-assessment and goal setting related to academic and career planning Offer one-on-one counseling to address personal, social, and career needs Collaborate with building staff, counselors, and administrators to enhance program delivery Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and prepare reports Create and distribute outreach materials, reports, and communications for students and families Perform additional duties as assigned

Foster positive, respectful relationships with parents and community members Refer students to appropriate community agencies as needed

Demonstrate professional appearance and behavior as a role model for students Positively represent the school district in all interactions Engage in professional development activities such as trainings, workshops, and continuing education.

Physical Requirements



Ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone Ability to operate computers, handle materials, and perform clerical tasks Lift and move items up to 30 lbs as needed Perform various physical tasks, including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and light lifting May involve repetitive hand and arm movements
