POSITION SUMMARY

The Connections Graduate Program Instructor will advise, guide, coordinate, and/or train graduates in college, career, and life skills readiness leading to successful transitions back into the community. Through advisement and guidance, the instructor will assess each Graduate by using interest inventories. In addition, instructors will assist each Graduate in developing a Transitional Plan, completing online certification programs, and participating in activities focused on life skills, college and career growth and development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the creation of all reports, records, and other paperwork as assigned by the District, the Agency, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Federal Government, and other paperwork that may be appropriate to the district\xe2\x80\x99s administration.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed and works cooperatively with all other staff in school, District, and Agency-related matters.
  • Maintains a positive, collaborative, and mutually supportive working relationship with community agencies, parents, graduates, and Agency, District, and school staff.
\xc2\xb7 Conducts individual and group advisement sessions to help graduates make informed college, career, and life decisions. Assists and guides graduates through occupational exploration and the career-making process.

\xc2\xb7 Determines appropriate assessments and interventions required to assist graduates. Analyze sand interprets career assessment results and incorporates results in career counseling/job search coaching sessions.

\xc2\xb7 Teaches and coaches graduates in self-directed job search strategies. Provides resume/cover letter critiques and interview skills training. Engages graduates in use of library and on-line resources for researching employers and current employment opportunities.

\xc2\xb7 Develops and conducts career and job search workshops. Promote recruitment services and engage graduates in participating in the on-line job listing services, resume referral, on-campus interviews, career fairs and other career events.

\xc2\xb7 Helping graduates develop post-secondary educational plans in accordance with their interests, abilities, and career plans.

\xc2\xb7 Assists graduates with the completion of college admissions applications and college enrollment.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain calendar, email, and be responsive to all colleagues in a timely manner.

\xc2\xb7 Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners.

\xc2\xb7 Prepares graduates for industry recognized credentials.

\xc2\xb7 Provides support for college admission assessments.

\xc2\xb7 Engage parent and families in the support of graduate\xe2\x80\x99s growth and development through quarterly contact.
  • Continues to grow professionally through research, study, and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma Required

Associate or bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree Preferred.

Three (3) years of experience working in an educational setting: Required

Three (3) years of experience working in a college and career advisement setting: Preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Must be able to creatively delivery material through facilitation, advisement, and coaching.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of school district policies and practices.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated ability to implement the district\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plan.

\xc2\xb7 Prioritize and meet deadlines.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

\xc2\xb7 Proficient in Microsoft Office.
