As part of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for reviewing construction plans and specifications for compliance, accuracy and completeness. We're looking for someone who is capable of making decisions on construction projects that relate to construction practices, safety and the quality of work. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, but overtime hours may be required occasionally. Communication skills are an important aspect to this position, as you'll be communicating and coordinating with contractors, project managers, other departments, outside agencies, as well as the public on construction projects.
Other responsibilities and duties include:
Reviewing contractor invoices, shop drawings, test reports, and other project-related submittals
Inspecting development and capital improvements projects, including but not limited to elements related to water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, storm sewers, earthwork, traffic control, erosion/siltation control, roadway construction, and bridge construction systems, storm sewers, earthwork, traffic control, erosion/siltation control, roadway construction, and bridge construction
Performing plan reviews for code compliance, issues permit, and inspects utility excavation, lot final, and driveway
Verifying work is completed in accordance with escrow agreements
Maintaining records of inspections including measurement of quantities and other documentation
Responding to questions and concerns from the public
Assisting in gathering and preparing inventory data for contract documents and other Department initiatives.
Assisting with snow removal during winter weather events

We're looking for someone who has experience with the principles and practices associated with engineering operations, including plan review, construction inspection and stormwater operations. A minimum of one year of experience in Construction or a related field is required.
Other requirements include:
Certification as an ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment
