Overview

Perform professional nursing duties in the care of patients across the life span, including medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients.
Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associate\'s degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

No additional experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know about Human Resource systems; Internet software; Order processing systems, and Payroll systems.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or possess a multistate RN license accepted by the OBN, no substitutions. Must maintain license throughout employment. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, ACLS certification can be obtained within six (6) months of hire. All Departments, except the Obstetrical Department, must be certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, PALS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Obstetrical Department \xe2\x80\x93 Must be certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, NIHSS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. A driver\xe2\x80\x99s license may be required to work in some departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

REQUIREMENTS FOR DEPARTMENTS:

(If not certified at the date of hire, must be obtained within six (6) months and maintained throughout employment unless otherwise specified).

Medical-Surgical Department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Emergency Department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) \xe2\x80\x93 within 12 months of

hire.

Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) \xe2\x80\x93 within 12

months of hire.

Triage Competency (Minimum of 6 months Emergency

Department (ED) experience before performing triage.

Obstetrical Department Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) \xe2\x80\x93 within orientation

period

Basic/Advanced Fetal Monitoring and Interpretation \xe2\x80\x93 within

12 months of hire

Perinatal Education Program (PCEP)

RECOMMENDED: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood

Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support (STABLE)

Intensive Care Unit: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Electrocardiogram (ECG) Interpretation

Dysrhythmia Course (within 6 months of hire and then maintain

annually)

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG\xe2\x80\x99s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA\xe2\x80\x99s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG\xe2\x80\x99s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations and maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
