This is a remote position. Work may be performed from a quiet, confidential space in a home location, approved by PNC. This position may not be available in all geographic locations.

As an Infrastructure Architect Sr., within PNC\'s Technology organization, you will be part of a team and report into a Portfolio Owner Manager Sr.


  • Defines design patterns for a company\'s common technology architecture structure.
  • Develops and monitors the organization\'s technology architecture and plays a leading role in the vision and development of the company\'s future technology.
  • Ensures infrastructure designs and upgrades are made in accordance with established standards, patterns, policies, procedures and software licensing agreements.
  • Identifies and establishes best practices for technology architecture, while providing expert advice on core infrastructure initiatives.
  • Interprets technology requirements; designs technology architecture and drives the adoption.

Hardware Infrastructure \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of and the ability to design, implement and integrate IT hardware for its use in business environments.

Application Design, Architecture \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of application design activities, tools and techniques; ability to utilize these to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.

Architecture Modeling \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of and ability to develop and modify enterprise architecture through conceptual, logical and physical approaches.

Hardware Infrastructure \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of and the ability to design, implement and integrate IT hardware for its use in business environments.

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of and ability to apply ITIL processes and standards for managing the IT infrastructure.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic \xe2\x80\x93 Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Platform Architecture \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of technologies and methods to design processing mechanisms and roadmaps to execute business application systems; ability to design these roadmaps and deploy supportive interfaces for end-users to access related systems, in accordance with standards and processes.

Problem Solving \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Systems Software Infrastructure \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of software technology, and the ability to plan global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) \xe2\x80\x93 Knowledge of and ability to use this universal framework released by \'The Open Group\' to effectively plan, develop and govern enterprise architecture.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
