The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Quality Assurance Engineer. Under the general direction of the Product Quality Group Manager, Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the IT Specialist II performs complex quality assurance tasks and serves as a lead over lower-level staff. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Enterprise Modernization Project, which includes Driver License functions.




The incumbent will be responsible for:

Analyzing business requirements and Use Cases Creating and maintaining test cases across various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) testing disciplines Participating in Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions Coordinating Integration, System, Performance, and Security testing of applications and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) Documenting test results and ensuring traceability

As the project Test Manager, the Quality Assurance Lead will define, execute, and document test strategies and coordinate testing efforts for products and services delivered through the DMV's Modernization Project, supporting the Driver License systems.

Additionally, the Quality Assurance Engineer will:Analyzes the software environment and examine code segments to verify execution and functionality Develops and conduct user training Creates user instructions and documentation to support successful implementation

The incumbent will provide Product Quality Assurance functions in an Agile environment, aligned with DMV's Strategic Business and Information Technology Plans.

This Limited Term position may be extended to 24 months and may become Permanent.

Working Conditions


DMV operates 24/7. The incumbent may be required to carry a work cell phone and laptop. Occasional travel, including out-of-town conferences, and evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary. Telework requires California residency.
