Job Description

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I, must work both independently and collaboratively supporting systems hardware, software and other complex IT issues; monitoring, configuring, documenting systems services and problems; upgrading, maintaining network equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a highly available and secure Windows infrastructure for BCDC's applications/databases, Exchange e-mail system, Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID and AWS. This position will provide back-up for the Information Systems Analyst supporting all staff at BCDC.


The incumbent must promote and maintain a motivated, informed, and collaborative workforce where teamwork is valued and rewarded. Must possess strong communication and customer service skills and work collaboratively with internal program partners, vendor personnel, and external control agencies. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies as well as project management experience. Experience includes the management of projects, supporting process development and management, estimation techniques, requirements management, system/applications/software analysis and design, testing and implementation.

This position is a limited term assignment that may become permanent.

Working Conditions


BCDC's office is our headquarters in downtown San Francisco. BCDC is a hybrid workplace and offers telework for all employees. Telework is available for this position in accordance with BCDC's Telework Policy and Procedures.

This is a hybrid position, and the incumbent will be required to work in the office two days per week.

Department Information


The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) is a State of California government agency located in the City of San Francisco with regulatory and planning responsibilities over San Francisco Bay, the Suisun Marsh, and along the Bay Area's nine-county shoreline. BCDC is guided in its actions by state and federal laws, including: the McAteer-Petris Act, Suisun Marsh Preservation Act, Coastal Zone Management Act; and its policies, including the San Francisco Bay Plan, Suisun Marsh Protection Plan and various special area plans.



Through its laws and policies, BCDC protects hundreds of miles of shoreline, collaborates with local, regional, state, and federal agencies, and facilitates the implementation of the San Francisco Bay Trail and the San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail.



Finally, BCDC is a leader in preparing the region for rising sea level through its adoption of Bay Plan Climate Change policies in 2011; the Adapting to Rising Tides Program; and Bay Adapt, a collaborative effort to identify actions that will advance the region's resilience.
