Job Description

Under general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor (ITS) I, the Information Technology Associate (ITA) performs a high level of managing and planning functions relative to all telecommunications equipment, systems, and services related to communications centers statewide. Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing technical expertise in order to manage, program, and maintain Internet Protocol (IP) based 9-1-1 telecommunications systems for 24 communications centers. The ITA will oversee the installation and maintenance of digital audio logging recorder systems, integration of Next Generation (NG) text to 9-1-1, integration of NG video to 9-1-1, installation and maintenance of NG IP 9-1-1 phone systems, IP digital gateways, and IP based 9-1-1 call routing. The ITA coordinates telecommunications and electronics acquisition, performs research solutions based on needs, analyze emerging technologies, and works closely with telephone utilities and communications service providers to evaluate technologies and products. Identification of problems and deficiencies in telecommunications and IP systems or services and implementation of corrective actions is required of this position.

Working Conditions


Full time, Monday-Friday. In office only - telework is not an option. Rotational on-call duties, nights and weekends, will be required. Travel is required.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. The SOQ must be typed, no more than three pages in length, 12-point Arial font, and use letter sized paper with one-inch margins. Include questions with responses.



1. Describe your experience developing specifications and statements of work; performing site assessments; planning, installing and troubleshooting telecommunications/IT networks and infrastructure; and evaluating products and services.



2. Describe your experience working with a team of individuals to complete a large-scale project with short deadlines and competing priorities. What did you bring to the project personally? How did you develop and foster productive working relationships with all those involved in the project?



3. Describe your project management experience and your approach to planning, managing, leading, and delivering information technology products and services in a public safety or mission critical environment. Provide examples. Include your experience working with vendors and coordinating multiple resources to meet deadlines.
