The Role

The Information Security Technician III (IST3) is experienced with firewalls policies and UTM features, MPLS network designs, router commands, IPSec tunnels, routing protocols, Microsoft Office products, and is customer driven. IST3 effectively supports IST team members, Sales Engineering, Service Delivery and Service Activation organizations by accurately reviewing, updating, and completing security products order criteria. IST3 is a security subject matter expert and provides ongoing training to team members. IST3 work complex and large projects providing regular order progress reports through written notes and interacting with Provisioning and Activation teams. ITS3 interacts with customers gathering, analyzing, and documenting security configurations leading to accurate implementation and installation of a customer\xe2\x80\x99s service.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and order queue of security customer from service order received to customer on-boarding.
  • Meet key performance metrics by completing services with high quality and on-time.
  • Engage Sales Engineer, Provisioner, and Customer to optimizes security design solution and order accuracy in ordering systems.
  • Gather security data from customer, manage service orders and documentation through configuration, service activation, and customer onboarding.
  • Learn security implementation configurations and process to assist provisioning/activation techs with implementation of customer security services as needed.
  • Performs provisioning of security services to address less complex change requests.
  • Quickly manage escalations and drive resolution with minimal direction from peers/management.
  • Communicate effectively explaining technical concepts to other engineers, analysts, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Provides timely written status updates in the ordering systems; set appropriate jeopardy status, escalations, and engages appropriate resources to overcome obstacles impeding order progress.
  • Reviews, complies to, and edits standard operation procedure and other engineering documents and templates.
  • Remains current on the latest data network and security technology through completion of required/recommended training and reading material.
  • Attend new product and product feature enhancement meetings to learn and internalize new product or feature offerings.
  • Facilitate the alignment and integration TDE, Build, and Activation roles.
  • Support and lead critical initiatives impacting the improvement of IST Team Process efficiency
  • Contributes to the team knowledge base by participating in appropriate training and providing industry and best practice knowledge.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications and security industries
  • Working knowledge of MPLS Networks and devices
  • Fundamental knowledge of Dynamic and Static Routing Protocols and Hardware Platforms
  • Comprehension of IPsec Tunnels, GRE, and SSL Certificates
  • Detailed technical knowledge of FortiGate security
  • Proficiency in SSH and Cisco/Juniper/Alcatel router commands
  • Understanding of Secure Mobility solutions
  • AD/LDAP and Radius Authentication and Group Policies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills to support customers, internal stakeholders, and peers
  • Attention to detail with good organizational competences
  • Prioritization and good time management skills
  • Operate effectively and professionally with customers, team members, and cross functional organizations
  • Willingness to embrace change and work within a fast-paced environment
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or Computer Science. An equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree
  • 7+ years related experience in security or IP networking
Preferred Skills:
  • Security+, CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent Security certification
  • Familiar with Lumen Security Suite \xe2\x80\x93 Cloud, Premise, and Virtual
  • Knowledge of Lumen ordering and workflow systems
  • Knowledge of Forimanager and Fortinet firewall platform
