Responsibilities

The following reflects management\xe2\x80\x99s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Specific duties include:

  • Collaborating with the ISSM/ISSO to ensure the timely installation and maintenance of updated patches for various DoD programs, including but not limited to Windows 10, Windows Server 2008/12, RHEL, Solaris, LINUX/UNIX, and CISCO operating systems
  • Supporting the ISSM/ISSO in the preparation and updating of Information Technology security documentation required by the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Reviewing and monitoring the progress of special projects aimed at remedying vulnerabilities or weaknesses in the information system, and report findings to the government as required
  • Assisting the ISSM/ISSO in ensuring compliance with information/cybersecurity standards and security requirements
  • Proactively identifying and notifying the ISSM of any Information Technology (IT) cybersecurity problems within the system and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address them
  • Adhering to established and documented configuration management procedures when working with the ISSO, Network Security, and System Administration staff to resolve cybersecurity problems within the system
  • Supporting the ISSM in the review of scan reports, audit logs, and various security procedures to ensure the network complies with security guidelines
  • Providing a Weekly Activity Report (WAR) in accordance with reference 6.6.1, summarizing completed tasks, ongoing activities, and notable cybersecurity incidents

Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.

The following experience is desired:
  • Proven experience in the field of cybersecurity and information assurance, with a strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity principles, methods, regulations, and policies.
  • Familiarity with patch management and experience in maintaining and updating patches for various operating systems, including Windows, Linux/UNIX, and CISCO.
  • Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and experience in preparing and updating information security documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review and monitor projects designed to address vulnerabilities or weaknesses in information systems.
  • Excellent understanding of information/cybersecurity standards and requirements.
  • Effective communication skills to notify and collaborate with the ISSM, as well as other relevant stakeholders, regarding IT cybersecurity problems and solutions.
  • Experience in reviewing scan reports, audit logs, and security procedures to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to provide accurate and comprehensive Weekly Activity Reports.
Military Installation Access: This position resides on a military installation. Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass (successful pass of background check).

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a minimum of an active Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Travel: Work will be performed at various military base/post/camp/stations within the State of Hawaii (outer islands included). Occasional travel to CONUS locations may be required during the course of this contract.
