Infant Toddler Caregiver

Job Overview:


The Infant Toddler Caregiver will support the Lead Caregiver in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. This role is responsible for assisting in planning, preparing, and delivering age-appropriate activities, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring the emotional and developmental needs of the children are met. The Infant Toddler Caregiver will work closely with the Lead Caregiver.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices. Comply with DHS Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules. Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead caregiver. Assist the lead caregiver in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials. Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior. Provide physical care such as feeding, diapering, and nap-time support. Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives. Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness such as cleaning, sanitizing, and managing supplies and resources. Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus. Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs. Use positive modeling and behavior management. Follow school policies and procedures (maintain confidentiality). Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Meet State childcare licensing requirements for infant toddler caregivers: + Option 1: High School Diploma/Equivalent, 12 credits approved early childhood courses; 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 12 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
+ Option 2: High School Diploma/Equivalent, 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 24 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
+ Option 3: No High School, 30 hours approved infant/toddler training, and 36 months full time experience working with children under 36 months in a licensed group care setting.
Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance). Able to lift up to 35 lbs. CPR/First Aid certification.
