We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our team and provide high-quality education and care to young children. The Infant /Toddler Teacher will be
responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans, supervising and interacting with children, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. The successful
candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills and be able to work collaboratively with other team members.
General Functions:
Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor, the Teacher provides quality primary care giving for infants or toddlers in a safe and supervised early care and educational setting; Promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development children enrolled in the program; develops individual goals for children; provides screenings and on-going assessment; Follows all agency policies, procedures and other applicable Federal and State regulations to accomplish the Program goals and objectives successfully.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Child Development and Care
Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers.
Talk, sing, and read to children frequently to support language development.
Tend to personal hygiene needs, including diapering, toileting, cleaning, and feeding.
Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or special needs; report concerns promptly.
Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
Adapt activities to meet individual goals and diverse needs, including disabilities.
Organize daily activities to foster curiosity, initiative, problem-solving skills, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
Curriculum and Assessment
Develop and utilize integrated curriculum plans that reflect mandated program components, cultural influences, and family input.
Prepare classroom materials and create engaging learning centers.
Conduct developmental screenings and assessments in partnership with families.
Analyze child outcome data and develop individualized plans for each child.
Maintain documentation of classroom activities, assessments, and significant issues.
Family Engagement
Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with families.
Encourage families to participate actively in their child's development.
Promote positive parent-child interactions and bonding. Communicate regularly with parents regarding each child's progress.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences to review assessments, share educational strategies, and discuss goals.
Support the family advocate by modeling developmentally appropriate practices for parents.
Collaboration and Professionalism
Maintain a positive, calm, and professional demeanor; model this attitude for staff, volunteers, and parents.
Participate in team meetings to plan and coordinate services across program components.
Collaborate with other teachers, the center supervisor, program leadership, parents, and volunteers to plan and implement activities.
Protect children from any form of physical punishment or verbal abuse; report any such incidents immediately.
Participate in the agency's continuous quality improvement efforts.
Maintain confidentiality of all records and family information.
Compliance and Administrative Duties
Ensure compliance with Title 22 and Title 5 regulations and program policies.
Conduct daily meal counts and verify sign-in sheets.
Complete DRDP Assessment and Monthly observations and documentation, reports, and other administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform additional duties as needed to meet program requirements
Education and Qualifications
24 units in ECE/CD, including core courses and 16 general education units, including 6 units of Infant/Toddler Care.
or; AA or higher in ECE/CD or related field with 3 units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting
Current Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the CTC
Preferred Qualifications
BA in ECE or CD Training in child health, safety, and nutrition.
Minimum 2 years of experience with infants and toddlers, including children with disabilities.
Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Other Considerations:
Must be able to perform light physical work, including lifting and carrying children weighing 14-30 pounds.
Requires bending, crouching, kneeling, and other movements to meet children's needs.
Ability to maintain performance under pressure and handle stress professionally.
Must contribute to a work environment that is safe and free from unpleasant conditions.
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and TB risk assessment required.
Must pass background checks through DOJ, FBI, and CACI.
