We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Infant Lead Teacher to join our childcare center team with a focus on Montessori principles and infant care. The Infant Lead Teacher will provide a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants while incorporating Montessori techniques that foster self-discovery, independence, and curiosity from an early age. This position requires a commitment to early childhood education, infant care training, and an understanding of the Montessori philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
? Lead the infant care program by implementing Montessori principles to support the growth and development of each infant in a nurturing and safe environment.
? Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and activities tailored to the developmental needs of each infant, incorporating sensory and motor skills development.
? Create a calm, enriching atmosphere that promotes sensory exploration, emotional security, and social interaction.
? Observe and assess each infant's progress, documenting milestones and behaviors, and maintaining accurate records for communication with parents.
? Build strong, trusting relationships with infants, fostering a sense of security and attachment.
? Foster a respectful environment by modeling positive communication and interactions, supporting infants' ability to explore their environment with confidence.
? Engage with parents to provide updates on their infant's development, offering guidance and suggestions for supporting growth at home.
? Ensure that all infant care routines (feeding, diapering, napping) are conducted with respect, consistency, and attention to each infant's individual needs.
? Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations for infant care, maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
? Assist in the training and mentoring of assistant teachers or volunteers as needed.
? Participate in regular professional development opportunities and collaborate with other team members to ensure the implementation of best practices in infant care and Montessori education.
? Complete four hours of professional development training in an infant-specific subject either before or no later than 30 days after the date of employment/volunteering.
? Maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for all infants, including managing the proper care of toys, materials, and equipment.
Qualifications:
? At least 18 years of age.
? High school diploma or equivalent.
? One of the following qualifications:
? Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related academic discipline.
? Technical certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education or Infant Care.
? Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
? Experience working in an infant care setting with a solid understanding of early childhood development.
? Strong knowledge of infant care practices and Montessori principles as they apply to the youngest learners.
? Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment for infants, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and infants.
? Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the overall development of the childcare center.
? Experience in working with infants or toddlers in an early childhood education or Montessori environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
? Ability to engage in physical activities with infants, including sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting.
? Ability to stand, walk, and supervise infants for extended periods of time.
? Ability to lift and carry infants or children as needed for care routines (diapering, feeding, etc.).
