Summary

Tuckaway Ellwood House Child Development and Learning Center is looking for an energetic, hardworking educators to work with our infant (6 weeks to 16 months) and toddler (16 months to 2 1/2 years old) classrooms. We are seeking two Full Time Assistant Infant and Toddler Teachers to help foster the learning of the whole child! The hours for these shift ranges from 7:30 am- 4:30 pm, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, 8:30 am- 5:30 pm and 9:00 am- 6:00 pm.

Duties

• assist the Lead Teachers in the overall supervision and daily class functions of a class of children
• assessment of each\'s child\'s developmental needs on an ongoing basis
• implementation of lesson plans and daily classroom schedule through the use of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
• Provision of an attractive, well kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration and decision making of the children
• accepts responsibility for light housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds
• maintain professional attitude and work behavior
• attends all requires staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions as determined by the Director
• observe all rules and regulations of our program and the minimum standards set by the Virginia Department of Social Services pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children

• strong knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
• must be able to lift up to 35 lbs in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety and potential emergency situations
• at least 6 months previous teaching experience with a quality preschool, child care center, or public pr private school system is preferred
• certifications or degree related to Early Childhood or preschool or elementary education is also desirable
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Department of Social Services 10 hour training called "Virginia Preservice Traning and 3 hour Health and Safety Training (these are free trainings)
