Job Overview


The Field Service Technician/Leader is responsible for the professional installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of specialized equipment manufactured and supplied by Veteran Equipment Sales. This position requires technical expertise, leadership capabilities, customer interaction skills, and the ability to work independently in various field environments. The ideal candidate will represent VES with professionalism while ensuring all installations meet stringent quality standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning:



Lead on-site installation of VES equipment systems including blast booths, paint booths, air showers, Dust collection and HEPA filtration systems, compressed air systems, and related industrial equipment Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and installation manuals Ensure all installations comply with engineering specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements Perform system commissioning, testing, and quality verification before customer handoff Document installation procedures, deviations, and completion status

Technical Leadership:



Supervise and coordinate installation crews and subcontractors as needed Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting during complex installations Make on-site decisions regarding installation modifications or issue resolution Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and customers regarding project status.

Customer Relations:



Serve as the primary VES representative at customer sites Conduct customer training on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures Address customer concerns professionally and escalate issues appropriately Ensure customer satisfaction through quality workmanship and professional conduct

Maintenance & Service:



Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on VES equipment Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions Maintain accurate service records and documentation Recommend equipment upgrades or modifications to improve performance

Quality & Safety:



Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA requirements Conduct pre-installation safety assessments and job hazard analyses Ensure all work meets VES quality standards and customer specifications Identify and report potential safety hazards or quality concerns

Administrative Duties:



Complete daily field reports, timesheets, and expense documentation Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and installation materials Coordinate logistics for equipment delivery, staging, and installation schedules Participate in post-installation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Education:



High school diploma or GED required Technical certification, trade school diploma, or associate degree in relevant field HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance experience Must be able to access U.S. state and federal military installations. Any felony convictions are considered disqualifying.

Experience:



Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial equipment installation, maintenance, or field service Proven experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in field operations Experience with blast booths, paint booths, HVAC systems, or industrial filtration systems

Technical Skills:



Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized installation equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities Basic electrical knowledge and ability to perform electrical connections (under supervision or with appropriate licensing) Welding and fabrication skills

Soft Skills:



Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service orientation Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail Professional appearance and demeanor Time management and organizational skills

Physical Requirements:



Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. regularly Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed Valid driver's license with no driving restrictions required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



Veteran status with Honorable Discharge strongly preferred - Other Than Honorable or a Dishonorable Discharge will not be considered for employment Experience with government or military installations Knowledge of T.O. (Technical Order) compliance and military specifications Project management or construction management experience OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification First Aid/CPR certification Forklift and aerial lift operation certification preferred or willingness to obtain Military technical training or similar experience highly valued

WORKING CONDITIONS



Travel:

50-75% travel required, including overnight stays and extended assignments. Possession of a valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one is required. Worldwide travel may be required

Environment:

Work performed primarily within the U.S. at customer sites including industrial facilities, military installations, and manufacturing plants.

Schedule:

Standard business hours with flexibility required for project deadlines and customer needs.

Conditions:

Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures; appropriate PPE provided

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS



Competitive salary commensurate with experience: $65,000 - $85,000 annually based on experience Performance-based bonuses and incentives Per diem, travel expense reimbursement, or company credit card Company service vehicle will be available for travel to jobsites on an 'as needed' basis Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Company-provided specialized equipment and tools
