Applies knowledge of basic engineering principles to assist in the design, development and testing of aircraft and related component systems. A candidate must work in an engineering or other technical department and be employed for a limited period from May through August of a year.



Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities



Performs routine developmental assignments and applies standard solutions to problems or work situations of a routine or repetitive nature. Assists in the design and development of commercial, military, executive, general aviation or special purpose aircraft and/or related hardware or systems. Assists in the test model, prototype, subassembly, or production vehicles to study and evaluate operational characteristics and effects of stress imposed during actual or simulated flight conditions. Assists in the design and development of structural components such as wings, fuselage, rib assemblies, landing gear, or operational control systems. Assists in the design and development of analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, or propulsion systems.


Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.


Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements



Minimum Other. A candidate must be currently enrolled in an engineering school at an accredited college or university in a mechanical, aeronautical, electrical or other applicable engineering discipline.


If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

0 year(s) No experience in required for the position as it is established to gain engineering experience over the summer break, generally from May through August

Skills and Competencies



Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties: Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form using electronic media, telephone and direct contact with internal and external personnel. Operate standard office equipment and demonstrate competency in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Complete the Safety training specific to the area and/or equipment used. Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders. Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership competencies for Stakeholders. Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
