Responsibilities
Identify and generate new leads through strategic prospecting, networking, and market research within the freight and logistics industry.
Cultivate strong relationships with clients by understanding their supply chain needs and providing customized transportation solutions.
Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact, needs assessment, proposal development, negotiation, to closing contracts.
Coordinate with carriers, 3PL providers (Third-Party Logistics), NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers), and other transportation partners to ensure seamless freight movement.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and AS400 platforms for data entry, dispatching, tracking shipments, and maintaining accurate records.
Develop comprehensive transportation plans that optimize logistics operations while adhering to FDA regulations and industry standards.
Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements to secure competitive pricing while maintaining high service quality.
Monitor market trends in supply chain management and transportation management systems to identify new opportunities for growth.
Provide exceptional customer relationship management by offering ongoing support, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Collaborate with internal teams on freight pricing strategies, lead generation initiatives, and transportation planning efforts to maximize sales efficiency.
Skills
Proven experience in B2B sales within the freight or logistics industry with a focus on transportation management systems and supply chain solutions.
Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, logistics operations, and transportation planning processes.
Expertise in account management, customer relationship management (CRM), negotiation tactics, and sales management techniques.
Familiarity with 3PL services, NVOCC operations, carrier sales strategies, dispatching procedures, and freight contracts.
Proficiency in using CRM software, EDI systems, AS400 platforms, and transportation management systems for data entry and shipment tracking.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to generate leads effectively through inside sales efforts.
Ability to analyze market data to develop competitive pricing strategies while ensuring compliance with FDA regulations where applicable.
Strong organizational skills for managing multiple accounts simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in contracts and logistics documentation.
