We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Individual Living Support Technician (ILST) to provide high-quality care and assistance to residents in a community or healthcare setting. The ILST plays a vital role in supporting individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or other health conditions. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety, dignity, and well-being, with responsibilities that encompass personal care, medication management, and activity support. The ideal candidate will have experience in home and community care, assisted living, or long-term care environments and possess excellent communication skills. Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor and observe patients for changes in condition or behavior, maintaining detailed documentation
Administer medications and perform basic nursing tasks following care plans and HIPAA regulations
Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with mobility
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning and sanitation duties
Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures when necessary
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery
Assist with vital signs monitoring and patient observation to detect early signs of health issues
Qualifications
Prior experience in assisted living, home health, hospice care, nursing home, or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges preferred
Knowledge of patient care practices including medication administration, vital signs measurement, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care techniques
Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers
Compassionate attitude with patience and empathy for residents' diverse needs
Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with resident transfers using proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
Experience working with individuals with autism or other special needs is a plus
