Job Title: Refrigeration Technician

Job Type: Full-time, Day Shift

Pay: $25 - $33/hr.

Department: Maintenance

Responsibilities (Duties will include, but not limited to):

Maintains Company-owned ice merchandisers located at the plant and in-store to ensure optimal functionality (approx. 360). Performs service calls to stores. Diagnoses problems and completes repairs on ice merchandisers. Refurbish older merchandisers by replacing parts, sanding, patching, and painting them promptly. Performs periodic maintenance on ice merchandisers at store locations. Documents work while at stores on a handheld device and communicate it with store employees. Communicates with dispatch regularly for service calls using a company-issued cell phone. Supports the installation of ice merchandisers by providing site checks for customers to ensure adequate space and electrical supply. Perform maintenance and repair on transport refrigeration (Thermo King) and other miscellaneous plant damage as needed. Performs daily checks on the plant freezers ensuring temperature and adequate refrigerant levels. Maintains inventory of parts used for service and purchases parts as needed. Service and maintain the HVAC at the plant including regular cleaning. Assist with major HVAC repairs. Maintain the shave ice block maker that runs off glycol.
Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of ice merchandisers and refrigerants. EPA Type I, II, or Universal Certification Required. 2 years of experience working with refrigeration preferred. Valid Driver's License and good driving record. US work authorization. Must be 18 or older to work in a Freezer/ warehouse. Perform all work with little to no supervision and promptly. Must be able to drive a Company vehicle safely by abiding all the rules of the road. Must have own set of basic hand tools for daily use on the job.
Physical Requirements:

Able to bend and lift to 50 lbs. Able to work in cold conditions 0-30 degrees Fahrenheit. A pre-employment physical and drug test is required (Company-issued). Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and moving up and down ladders. Frequent use of hands and fingers. Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and physical for sanding and painting. This is a safety sensitive driving position, applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and are subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment.

Hawaiian Ice Company is a locally owned and operated small business based out of Pier 38 in Honolulu. We are the largest ice manufacturer and distributor on the island of O'ahu. We provide high-quality ice to over 100 stores daily. We operate from 4 am-4 pm daily 362 days a year.

Schedule

40 hr./week, some weekends and holidays. Exact schedule TBD. Must be available on-call if there are issues with refrigeration at the plant. The freezers must hold temp so that the ice does not melt. Able to work overtime as needed.
