Performs professional level coordination of human services programs and services in support of the Community Services Department. Priority services and programs include those that address homelessness in the City, serve other vulnerable populations, and will require development and management of innovative solutions to achieving a functional zero level of homelessness in the City and serve the needs of our most vulnerable residents. This is a key position in the human services area and will require extensive face-to-face interactions and coordination with staff, non-profit partners, funding agencies and others.
Bachelor's degree in Social or Human Services, Business or Public Administration, Social Work, case management or a related field, and (2) two years social or human services program management. Preference will be given to applicants with direct experience with HUD reporting systems including HMIS, SAGE, and IDIS.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Suite; web-based reporting and grant management systems; community resources, and the operation of human service agencies
Human services issues and practices, particularly those related to homelessness
Active contract administration principles and practices
Human and community services needs of individuals and families in lower socioeconomic levels, including but not limited to seniors, the disabled, survivors of domestic violence and at-risk adult and youth populations
Human services and community assistance organizations operating programs in Glendale, the state, and the region
Best practices in human services coordination and monitoring
Research techniques, statistics, and monitoring as related to public programs, particularly those funded with HUD Community Planning and Development (CPD) grants
Ability to:
Interact in a positive and supportive manner with nonprofit agencies that apply for and receive funds
Understand the processes and procedures for implementing and administering various federal and state grants
Exercise judgment and act independently in establishing or adapting work procedures
Handle administrative details
Make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy
Keep complex clerical records and prepare accurate reports from such records
Prepare effective correspondence
Work with the general public tactfully and courteously
Understand and follow oral and written instruction
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
