The Human Resources Specialist provides key administrative support to the Director of Staff Experience, focusing on onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining accurate personnel records. This role helps ensure smooth HR operations across the organization by handling essential compliance, benefits coordination, and employee support tasks. The ideal candidate will be organized, people-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while upholding the values and culture of LifeHouse. In addition to HR responsibilities, this position provides general support to staff and operational needs at the assigned location to help ensure a positive and functional workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding and Offboarding
Facilitate the onboarding process for all new hires, including coordination of online documentation through the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Verify work eligibility in compliance with federal regulations by reviewing identification and employment documentation
Coordinate drug testing and track results for all incoming employees
Set up accounts and system access (Microsoft 365, training platforms, etc.) for new employees
Support the Director of Staff Experience in conducting exit processes, including scheduling and documenting exit interviews
Administrative and HR Operations Support
Maintain accurate and organized employee records and digital files in compliance with organizational policy
Enter, update, and manage employee data using the HRIS.
Prepare and distribute HR-related reports as requested
Benefits and Leave Coordination
Provide general guidance to employees regarding enrollment in benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) plans
Support employees through workers' compensation claims and leave of absence requests, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Ensure timely communication and follow-up regarding benefits, eligibility and changes
Employee Support and Engagement
Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related questions, routing more complex matters to the Director of Staff Experience
Support organizational events, staff training, and engagement initiatives
Assist the Director of Staff Experience with special projects and improvements to HR systems and employee experience efforts
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred
At least two years of experience in an HR or administrative support role
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with HRIS platforms (such as iSolved) and Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of employment laws and confidentiality standards
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in behavioral health or substance use service settings
Familiarity with non-profit operations or multi-site organizational structures
HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR, is a plus
